Sport Psychology Coaching
The development and maintenance of successful mental and emotional resources has been found to benefit both players striving to succeed as well as those who have achieved continued success at sport's highest levels. The Sport Psychology Coaching Program provides each athlete with the unique opportunity to work closely with a sport psychology coach, ensuring that he or she is fully prepared for the rigors of sport training and competition. This program encourages athletes to become more self-aware, embrace efficient ways of thinking and acting, and become better learners. The goal of the program is to guide each athlete to improved sports-performance as well as mental and emotional well-being.
Beginning with an assessment of each athlete's psychological strengths and needs, our Sport Psychology Coaching program includes:
- Developing individual player plans and objectives
- Building appropriate cognitive perspectives and relevant mental/emotional skills and strategies
- Nurturing character development (the foundations of excellence)
- Counseling and education through transition and adjustment issues in sport
- Helping the athlete avoid distraction and remain confident
- Evaluating practices and competitions (reflection, debriefing, and development of future mental/emotional approaches to competition)
- Teaching the athlete to cope with injury and the rehabilitation process
- Consulting on team dynamics
- Consulting with and referring to other sport science, specialized psychological experts or medical experts (as necessary)
