Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship Program was established to recognize outstanding academic and leadership achievement among Phi Theta Kappa members seeking to transfer to Boston University.

Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisors are invited to nominate up to two candidates for this program. Nominees must be prepared to enter their program of admission as juniors; a minimum of 60 transferable credits is required. Nominees must be United States citizens, permanent residents, or eligible noncitizens. Up to five scholarship recipients will be chosen from among those nominated. Each Phi Theta Kappa Scholar receives a $25,000 scholarship award. The award is renewable for the following year provided that the student maintains a cumulative grade point average of 2.0, completes at least 12 credits each semester, and adhere to the Code of Student Responsibilities.

Nomination forms can be found online. Completed nomination forms should be submitted by the Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisor no later than March 1.

Students are advised to complete the CSS Profile™ and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the March 1 deadline. A Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship recipient’s calculated financial eligibility above the amount of the scholarship—as determined by an analysis of the family’s financial information on the CSS Profile and FAFSA—may be met with funds awarded by BU Financial Assistance. Nominees who submit the CSS Profile and FAFSA will be considered for University, federal, and state funds even if they are not selected for this scholarship.
