The Department of Physical Education, Recreation,
and Dance (PERD) is an educational and service department of Boston University and does not offer degree programs.
Its purpose is to meet the physical needs of students and provide them with opportunities to develop and practice activity
skills and improve fitness.
Each semester, Boston University offers more than a hundred activities in the form of one-credit physical
education classes. Staying in shape isn't difficult with selections in aerobics, aquatics, boating, court
sports, dance, individual sports, martial arts, outdoor sports, ice-skating, weight training, and yoga.
PERD also offers noncredit classes. Classes include everything
from scuba diving to hip-hop dancing. Even with a full schedule,
you can take advantage of these noncredit classes.
