Do you like to lead and affect change? Have an interest in
politics? Boston University offers many opportunities for students
to get involved in student government and politics on campus.
Visit the Student
Activities Office website to learn more about the activities
described below.
Student government works at three levels on campus: the Student Union, representing all undergraduate students; School and College student governments; and residence hall associations and the commuting student government.
The Student Union
The Student Union represents the concerns and interests of undergraduate students at Boston University and brings events and activities to the campus. The Student Union is made up of representatives from School/College governments, Consortia (student groups), and Residence Hall Associations and is led by an Executive Board that is elected at the close of each Spring semester.
School and College Student Governments
Each of the undergraduate Schools and Colleges at Boston University
has its own Student
Government that works in the interest of the student body
of that school. Student governments are the liaisons between
the student body and the administration. The activities organized
by these bodies range from orientation programs and lectures
to films and dances.
Residence Hall Associations
Each residence area has a student association that represents
its population. These Residence
Hall Associations (RHA) and their leaders work to improve
the quality of life in the residence system. Each RHA develops
educational, cultural, recreational, and social opportunities
for residents' participation.
Politics
If student government doesn't satisfy your political yearnings,
there are many other groups on campus you can join, including
College Democrats, College Republicans, and the NAACP. Visit
the Student Activities Office website to learn more about the
political
organizations on campus.
