The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at Boston University produces graduates who can think critically and draw on a broad range of knowledge. Students leave the College superbly equipped for graduate studies or for entering the job market with a solid education and well-developed skills. They may choose from nearly 70 majors in 23 departments as well as in interdisciplinary degree programs and independent concentrations.
The College of Arts and Sciences offers students a broad, liberal education in addition to focused study in their major area.
Every CAS student satisfies requirements in languages
(English writing and a foreign language) and in four general disciplines: humanities, social sciences, natural
sciences, and mathematics and computer science. Please see the Undergraduate
Programs Bulletin for more information.
At Boston University, you need not declare a major until
the end of your sophomore year, but when the time
comes to choose a concentration, you will have dozens
of possibilities from which to craft an academic program
that will foster your intellectual growth and lead to a
lifetime of learning.
