The most academically qualified students admitted to either
the College
of Arts and Sciences (CAS) or the School
of Management (SMG) are invited to participate in one of
two Honors Programs.
For students in CAS, the Honors Program offers advanced sections
of more than 30 different classes each semester, including honors
sections of the Core
Curriculum. Each semester, freshman and sophomore honors
students choose one course in the honors Program. Once they
have successfully completed any four honors courses, students
are qualified to receive an honors designation on their transcripts.
As seniors, they are strongly encouraged to participate in Work
for Distinction, two semesters of individual research under
the direction of a faculty advisor that culminates in a thesis
and leads to graduation with distinction in their concentration.
The Honors Program within SMG provides a challenging and stimulating curriculum for academically talented management students. Students enroll in special sections of required management courses, participate in the College of Arts and Sciences' Core Curriculum, and collaborate in research with faculty guidance to produce senior theses. They also have the opportunity to explore internships during the summers, as well as study abroad.
