Boston University offers students who excel in a particular subject area several options for full- and
half-tuition scholarships. To be eligible for these scholarships, students must submit an application for,
and be admitted to, the University. In some cases, additional requirements such as exams, essays, and other
scholarship application materials are required.
Please note that the profile information for each scholarship program reflects that of prior scholarship recipients. This
does not constitute a statement of eligibility and cannot be used to predict who will be selected this year.
Ancient Greek Scholarship
The Ancient Greek Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship
awarded to seniors who score highest on an examination of ancient
Greek civilization and who also demonstrate high academic achievement.
This competition is open to students admitted to any of the
University's degree-granting Schools or Colleges. For more information,

Latin Scholarship
Latin scholars who score highest on an
examination of Latin and the history and culture of ancient Rome are eligible to receive one of several four-year
scholarships ranging from half to full tuition. This competition
is open to students who demonstrate high academic achievement
and are admitted to any of the University's degree-granting

School of Education Presidential
Scholarship
The Presidential Scholarship recognizes the academically gifted
teachers of tomorrow with four years of tuition-free undergraduate
study at the School of Education. Applicants are required to
write an essay as per the instructions below.
To be considered for this award, please
describe, in 500 words or less, two of the best teaching practices
you observed during your primary and secondary education. How
did these practices ensure your command of academic subject
matter? It is our hope that thinking and writing about
the topic will prove stimulating, demanding, and rewarding.
Please submit your essay via e-mail to SEDessay@bu.edu
as an attached Microsoft Word document
(.doc or .rtf extension). The essay must be received by the
Office of Admissions no later than January 1.
Include at the top of the essay your name, Social
Security number, address, and e-mail address.

Boston University College of Engineering FIRST Scholarship
The Boston University FIRST Scholarship is a four-year, half-tuition
scholarship. It is awarded to a student who has participated
in the FIRST Robotics program at least one full season in high
school with a FIRST Robotics team and who has applied and been
admitted to the College of Engineering. FIRST Scholars will
also receive funding for up to 10 hours per week to participate
in a research program with a College of Engineering faculty
member for one semester in the first two years of study. Additionally,
those who maintain an overall grade point average of 3.40 are
guaranteed admission to a Boston University College of
Engineering Master of Science program.
Applications for the scholarship are available on the College
of Engineering website.
Students must also submit a recommendation letter from their
FIRST team advisor. Applications for admission to the College
of Engineering are due no later than January 1;
FIRST Scholarship applications and recommendations
are due no later than February 1

College of Fine Arts Scholarships
Scholarships to the Schools of Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts
are granted to students who display a high degree of artistic
talent as demonstrated in an audition or through a portfolio
review.
