  The Athletic Recruitment Process
Boston University is a Division I school offering 23 varsity sports: 12 for women and 11 for men. As a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), we abide by all NCAA rules for recruitment of student athletes.

In order for students to be considered for athletic teams at Boston University, they must submit an application to the University and register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Once registered, students must directly contact the coach of their sport of interest as NCAA rules prohibit coach-initiated recruitment of high school athletes. Please see the Varsity Athletics website for a list of coaches and their contact information.

Most sports at the University support walk-on athletes. Walk-on athletes still need to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse prior to practicing with a team.

Boston University does provide athletic scholarships to talented athletes with strong academic potential. The scholarships range from several hundred dollars to full tuition scholarships.

Please refer to the NCAA Clearinghouse and the Boston University Varsity Athletics websites for more information.
