Outside the Classroom
A good part of your education at BU won’t take place in a classroom or lecture hall. In fact, you may find some of your best learning experiences in a biomedical engineering laboratory, a Boston corporate office or a rainforest in Ecuador.
Boston University is a community of doers—students who seek experiences in the world around them to enrich their classroom learning. They not only study abroad but also pursue internships around the globe. Rather than simply reading marine biology textbooks, they take to the waters off coastal Massachusetts. And to learn about art history, they experience it personally by spending a semester painting in Italy.
We encourage these co-curricular activities by offering hundreds of them—a diversity of programs to enrich every curriculum and appeal to every personality type. A significant number of students participate in some type of research project, study-abroad program or internship during their four years here.
