ACOR JORDANIAN TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP FOR
THE ASOR ANNUAL MEETING NOVEMBER 2014
IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
The American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) offers two annual travel scholarships to assist Jordanian scholars in participating in and delivering a paper at the American Schools of Oriental Research Annual Meeting in mid-November in the United States. This scholarship is to be applied for in the year of the scheduled meeting, which moves from city to city.
The American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR) hosts its annual meeting in mid-November each year, and the academic program includes sessions on specific, pre-determined themes (www.asor.org/am). To present a paper in one of the ASOR or Member-Organized Sessions, interested scholars must submit applications according to the schedule announced on the ASOR website, where the list of session-topics is also posted. It is recommended that scholars interested in delivering a paper in a specific session email the Session Chair considerably in advance of the Abstract Deadline to notify the Session Chair of their interest. All presenters must submit their own applications to be approved by the ASOR Program Committee.
Abstracts should be submitted electronically using ASOR's online abstract submission system. Jordanian applicants may submit abstracts without meeting the ASOR membership requirement, but membership will be required for all scholars whose papers are placed on the final program. Abstracts for papers of Jordanian applicants should be submitted to ASOR no later than February 1, 2014.
Only those applicants whose papers have been accepted to be delivered in the academic program of ASOR's Annual Meeting will be eligible to be considered for this scholarship. Awardees will be identified in time for ASOR's March 15 "no late Abstract/Participation Forms accepted" date. This schedule should give awardees time to commit or be replaced by alternates, if they are unable to accept.
Each award is $3,500 to cover ASOR annual membership fees, registration fee for annual meeting, U.S. visa (to be applied for by awardees in a timely fashion after notice of receipt of funding with letter of acceptance), international airfare from Jordan to the United States, and hotel costs at the meeting. This award is funded by ACOR.
Applicants will be notified in April 2014
