The daily English Language Jordan Times provides excellent coverage of wire service world news.
The International Herald Tribune is available, the day after publication at $2.00 or more a copy.
The evening news in English on Jordanian Television draws heavily on CNN. BBC radio is available about 18 hours a day on AM 1323 and 640 in Amman and northern Jordan and Syria. The Voice of America is on AM 1260 for fewer hours per day. In southern Jordan (including Petra), a shortwave radio is necessary. ACOR does not have CNN, but major hotels make it available.
ACOR subscribes to Orbit satellite, and two televisions are available for use by the residents. Orbit provides a wide variety of news programming in English and other languages.
