The preferred method of communications with either office of ACOR is E-Mail. It is the fastest, cheapest and most reliable means of expediting actions. The second method is the FAX machine and the U.S. Mail. Telephone contact should be used only when there is a need for an immediate action or response. All E-mail memos are reviewed daily and generally responded to in one day. E-mail is reliable in the U.S. and Jordan. If you have lengthy documents to send to ACOR or photographs, via E-mail, contact ACOR prior to transmitting to ACOR the large documents. FUNCTIONS OF THE BOSTON OFFICE:   Located in facilities provided by Boston University, this office functions as the ACOR office in the United States.  Coordinates all activities of the ACOR Fellowship Committee:  Announcement of fellowships  Receipt of applications  Notification of awards  Fellowship travel arrangements  Visa (entry permissions) coordination  Fellowship related issues  Maintains direct communications with ACOR in Amman  Courier packages to Amman (Material of an official nature, e.g., excavation permit applications, contributions to ACOR publications, etc., may be forwarded to Amman in this manner. Affiliated archaeological project directors may also make use of the ACOR Boston bank account in order to transfer funds to Jordan).  Receives, for further shipment to Amman, donations of books and other materials for the ACOR Library.  Provides information and assistance on issues of travel, contact names and addresses in Jordan and the United States ACOR affiliation coordinator  Central link between the members of the ACOR Board of Trustees, the ACOR Committees located in the United States and the ACOR Director and staff, located in Jordan.  General information on US federal and state regulations and tax codes, and laws.  Interacts with public and private foundations and funding agencies.  Responds to inquiries from the press and individuals concerning ACOR activities in Jordan.  AMMAN The American Center of Oriental Research P.O.
