Taxi Service in Amman
ACOR is located near the University of Jordan, simplifying the taxi process. To get to ACOR, tell the driver Jordan University (Jami'a Urdunia). Some people find it easiest to get out at the foot bridge and walk the rest of the way. Otherwise, continue to the mosque circle, tell the driver to make a U-turn (or just left - ishmel) and then direct him into ACOR. A taxi can be rented to go anywhere in the country, but it is expensive. You must arrange a price with the taxi driver before you leave and do not pay him until you arrive. Approximate prices (from ACOR): Always ask the driver to use the meter or be prepared to pay inflated fares. A driver usually will use the meter without asking. If he doesn't, remind him. If he does not comply, leave the taxi. Shared Taxi: Shared Taxis or "servicees" provide economical travel, with some sacrifices of comfort. Prices for travel are very low. You must find the departure point, schedule and times of departure and return. They are generally the white taxis and of the departure points are generally near traffic circles, Abdali circle, the balad (downtown), etc.
