Monthly Meetings

The BUAPA holds regular meetings once a month during the school year to update the parent community on important school issues and events. Typically, the business portion of a meeting is followed by an additional program of interest. Jim Berkman, Head of School, and different faculty members are often invited to speak at meetings.

BUAPA Sponsored Events

The BUAPA sponsors community building events throughout the school year including social events for students and families, and appreciation events for Academy students and faculty. BUAPA activities are supported by voluntary membership dues and donations. Funds raised will go toward the follow events this year:

Fall Festival- Friday, October 21, 2011. Games and activities such as pumpkin decorating after school, followed by “homecoming” soccer game. Volunteers are needed for afternoon and evening shifts to help set-up, serve, and clean-up refreshments.

Parents’ Day & Picture Day- Friday, November 4, 2011. Parents welcome to attend abbreviated class schedule. Volunteers needed to assist photographer with individual student photographs and class pictures.

Lock In- Friday, November 18 to Saturday, November 19.  Students “camp out” at BUA for a full night of activities, games, food and fun. Many volunteers are needed for this event, including several with medical training, for afternoon, evening, over-night and early morning shifts to set-up, chaperone, help with refreshments, and clean up.

Parents’ Social- date TBA. An evening out just for BUA parents. Volunteers needed to help plan event and coordinate ticket sales.

All-School Breakfast- Thursday, January 26, 2012. Welcome students and faculty back from the holiday break. Volunteers needed to donate food and beverages, and to set-up, serve and clean up.

Ides of March Lunch- Friday, March 9, 2012. Send the students and faculty off on spring break with a festive lunch. Volunteers needed to set-up, serve and clean up.

Commencement- Monday, May 21, 2012. Volunteers need to help with reception following commencement ceremony.

Faculty Appreciation Lunch- June, 2012, date TBA. Parents donate food, set up and serve, in appreciation of the faculty and staff.  (This event takes place after the end of the school year)
