Performing Arts

Performing ArtsStudents who are interested in theatrical performance are welcome to audition for the Academy’s fall musical, spring play, and annual senior-directed production. Additionally, the Art Department invites student involvement with the technical aspects of the productions — costume and set design, stage crew, lighting, and music.

Recent musicals and dramatic productions at the Academy have included: Godspell, Arcadia, Carousel, Pippin, My Fair Lady, Urinetown, and The Crucible.

All Academy performances are rehearsed and staged at the Boston University College of Fine Arts, which boasts its own black box theatre, theatre lab, and concert hall.

Performing Arts Class

This course is an intensive year-long course that focuses on all aspects of theatrical performance including acting technique, theater studies, movement, character development, and improvisation. Students will prepare and perform monologues and scenes for an in-class performance.
