Abigaña and Boston Composers’ Coalition to Kick Off 2012 Season
The Academy’s Dr. Brett Abigaña and the Boston Composers’ Coalition (BCC) will kick off their 2012 season this Friday, February 17 at 8:00 p.m. in MIT’s Killian Hall (160 Memorial Drive, Cambridge). The free concert will feature the Redline Brass Quintet from the Longy School of Music and premiere six newly composed works specifically written for them by BCC composers. There will be a second performance at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, at First Parish Malden (2 Elm Street, Malden). Both shows will also be streamed live on the BCC website if you are unable to attend in person.
In addition to teaching at BU and BUA, Dr. Abigaña serves as the vice president of the Boston Composers’ Coalition, a collaborative non-profit organization dedicated to the creation, performance, education, and dissemination of new American music. More information about the group including details about upcoming performances as well as concert archives is available at www.bostoncomposers.org. The BCC website also offers an interactive platform for composers, ensembles, and audiences to collaborate.
