    Teaching methodologies for English as a Second Language at the middle- and high-school levels, including techniques for developing language skills, content-based language teaching, evaluation and adaption of materials, planning and assessment.     Current theories of second-language teaching, analysis of materials, and practice in adapting and expanding textbook lessons. Focuses on adult, college, and international teaching. 4 cr.

    Teaching methodologies for modern foreign language, including techniques for developing language skills, communicative grammar teaching, evaluation and adaptation of material, planning and curriculum development, and assessment.     Survey of current classroom practices in computer-assisted language learning (CALL), Focus on relationships among teaching, learning, and technological environments involving second and foreign language learners and teachers. 4 cr.

    Focus on current theory/research related to teaching English language learners and the implications for effective language, literacy, and content-area assessment and instructional practices in Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) classrooms. For students seeking licensure in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Special Education. 4 cr.
  • SED TL 525: Teaching English Language Learners in Middle/High Schools
    Focus on current theory/research related to teaching English language learners and the implications for effective language, literacy, and content-area assessment and instructional practices in Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) classrooms in middle/high schools. For students seeking licensure in the content areas at the 5-12 level. 4 cr.
  • SED TL 530: School Leadership: English Language Learners
    Focus on the responsibilities of school leaders for promoting the academic achievement of English language learners. Emphasis on analysis of home, community and school factors that influence the education of this student population, and identifying and evaluating best practices in assessment and instruction in the Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) classroom. Designed for those seeking licensure as a principal/assistant principal and/or supervisor/director. 2 cr.

    Designed to introduce students to all aspects of language program management from academic areas of curriculum planning, student assessment, and program design to the management topics of finance, organizational behavior, and human resources. 4 cr.
