Minor in Communication

The minor in Communication encompasses focus areas in:

  1. Communication Studies
  2. Advertising
  3. Public Relations

Prerequisite: Completion of COM CO 201 with a grade of C or better before declaring the minor. Students must have the Department of Mass Communication, Advertising & Public Relations (at the College of Communication) sign the Communication minor form after they complete the prerequisite.

Students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 in all courses taken toward the minor in communication.

Required Courses

Six required courses:

  • Two required courses:
    • COM CM 321 Mass Communication Research or COM CM 380 Theory & Process of Communication
    • COM CM 331 Writing for Communication
  • Four 4-credit COM CM courses at the 300 level or higher
