East Asian Interdisciplinary Studies
The East Asian Studies Interdisciplinary Program offers a major and minor in East Asian Studies. The focus is on China, Japan, and Korea, with attention to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim. Both major and minor provide a broad interdisciplinary and comparative perspective in an effort to deepen understanding of how, over time, these societies have dealt with problems common to all humanity, and how they view the world and themselves. The programs can combine courses in anthropology, history of art & architecture, economics, geography, history, international relations, political science, religion, and sociology, as well as language and literature. Students are encouraged to establish a firm basis in a specific discipline as well as to achieve a broad understanding of the East Asian experience.
