Spanish Film and Media

CAS LS 308

Not open to students for whom Spanish is a first language. Students may not take CAS LS 308 more than once for credit. Advanced study of the Spanish language through the analysis of the film and media of the Spanish-speaking world: cinema, the internet, and social media. One topic is offered Spring 2015. Sections A1 and A2: Politics, Passion, and Prayer in Latin American Film. This course increases students' oral and written proficiency in Spanish through the analysis of how films from a region stereotypically known for dictatorships, soap operas, and religiosity represent the individual's relationship to the state, the beloved, and the spirit.
