Fall Semester: September 8th to December 12th, 2008
Spring Semester: Late
January to Late April
The Washington, D.C. Internship
Program offers a semester of study and work in the political and media
center of the United States. The program combines a full-time internship
with coursework on the legislative process, foreign policy, and the
opportunity to take any course offered at
George Washington University.
Classes are taught at the
Boston University Washington Center, both by distinguished scholars from
the Boston University faculty and by part-time adjunct faculty chosen
for their teaching expertise and records of accomplishment in their fields.
Students also have the option to take one class at George Washington
University as part of the program. They can enroll in any of George Washington's
seven undergraduate colleges and the full spectrum of course offerings
is open to them while they are enrolled in the Washington Internship
Program.
Students have the option of taking the Washington Seminar for 4 credits in lieu of one elective course. The Washington Seminar builds upon the internship course with a series of field trips to places such as the Supreme Court, the British Embassy, think tanks, lobbying firms, and a meeting with a former Ambassador.
Upon
successful completion of a semester, students earn 16 Boston University
credits. An introductory course in either American Politics or International
Relations is recommended prior to enrollment in this program.
