Fall Semester: early September to mid-December
Spring Semester: mid-January to mid-May

This focued Madrid program combines advanced Spanish language study with a unique opportunity to view Spanish culture through television and film. Throughout the semester students will work on a video documentary production on an aspect of Spanish life. The Madrid Film Studies and Documentary Video Production Program is hosted at the Instituto Internacional, where all courses are taught in Spanish.

The program is open to upperclassmen with an advanced level of Spanish language and a serious interest in both Spain and film production. Upon successful completion of the semester, students earn 16 Boston University credits.

Host Institution

Instituto Internacional
Home to the offices of the Boston University Madrid Programs, the Instituto Internacional was founded in 1892 by a Bostonian, Alice Gordon Gulick. Recently declared a national monument of historical interest, the Instituto is located in the heart of Madrid and has an excellent lending library, cafeteria, auditorium, computer lab with Internet connection, and wireless Internet access for students using laptop computers. All courses at the Instituto Internacional are Boston University courses and are taught in Spanish by Spanish scholars from nearby universities
