The Boston University Dresden Programs offer a wide variety of options to students, built around a semester or academic year of direct enrollment at Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) in the culturally rich city of Dresden, Germany. These offerings include the Engineering, Internship, Science, and University Studies Programs. German faculty teach all courses. Upon successful completion of a semester, students earn 16 to 20 Boston University credits. For additional information on-site, please visit: www.bu-dresden.de. Its name now only partially describes its mission, however. Since German reunification, the TUD has doubled in size by incorporating a full array of humanities, social sciences, and "pure" science departments as well. Please visit www.tu-dresden.de for more information. Dresden Engineering Program This program is offered during the spring semester and is designed for engineering
students who wish to combine engineering coursework in English with
the study of German. It is further designed to fit neatly into engineering
students existing curriculum and requirements. After completing
the intensive German-language course, engineering students
will choose three out of six courses at TUD—Differential Equations,
Electric Circuit Theory, Waves and Modern Physics, Linear Algebra,
Principles of Molecular Cell Biology and Biotechnology—and will also take The
Social Nature of Technology. These courses are all approved by Boston
Universitys College of Engineering and the College of Arts and
Sciences. Students also participate in field trips to research institutions,
technical museums, and companies to gain insight into the past,
the present, and the future of engineering technologies. Download

four-credit German-language and cultural-immersion course (CAS GE 300),
students are placed in their internships. Students begin their internships during
week nine and continue to work for an average of 30 hours a week. They
also enroll in two or more courses at the TUD and attend three
to four faculty directed sessions on the academic component of their
internship. During the final week of the
program, students attend a capstone seminar in which they deliver the
final presentations on their academic internship projects.
This program is offered during the fall semester and is designed for science students who want
to combine science coursework in English with the study of German. It
is further designed to fit neatly into science students' existing curricula
and requirements. Students will take an intensive beginning German course
and three elective courses. This program is designed for students who want to enroll
directly in a German university, and who want to take a wide range of
university courses. During the first weeks of the program (prior to the
start of the TUD semester), students enroll in a four-credit intensive
language and cultural immersion course. Students then enroll in three
elective courses at the TUD and finish the semester as regular students
of the University.
