Richard B. Doubleday is currently teaching a course, Graphic Design in Britain,
at the Boston University British Programmes.
This is an undergraduate and graduate course that provides a thorough grounding of perceptual and problem solving skills in graphic design, with emphasis on the selection and communication of appropriate pictorial images, symbols, and typography. The study of methods and procedures used in the practice of graphic design are taught in relation to the contemporary culture of England and the cultural diversity of London. Students can take advantage of the resources within London to make meaningful connections in their own work. The course also aims to provide graphic design students with a cultural experience, to become aware of London’s contribution to graphic design, and learn the history of visual communication in London. They can then focus on their decision making process about graphic design in the context of London.
The work included in this exhibition was created by current students who have taken
the Graphic Design in Britain elective. The assignment was to enlighten, inform and
promote The Royal National Theatre, Summer/Autumn 2004. Download a program one-sheet. |
