Admissions

Application Deadlines:

Fall Semester: March 15
Spring Semester: Extended to October 31, 2009 (Originally October 15)

For Spring 2010, the application deadline has been extended to October 31, 2009.

Admissions Calendar:

Review of applications will begin according to the following timetable.

Requirements:

  • • Minimum 3.0 GPA (in major and overall)
  • • Completion of one full year of introductory biology, one course in ecology (BI 303 or 306 for BU students). Non-BU students should contact International Programs to determine their prerequisites
  • • One year of college-level Spanish language or the equivalent, with grades of B or better
  • • Students admitted to the program must be able to engage in intensive fieldwork for significant periods of time.
  • • All students must complete the full 18-credit program, enrolling in five academic courses

Program Fee

2009/2010 Program Cost: $24,879

The following are included in the program fee:

  • • Tuition
  • • Housing
  • • Board
  • • Airfare from Miami
  • • Book allowance
  • • Field trips
  • • Emergency travel assistance coverage

Additional expenses to consider.

The cost for 2010/2011 has not yet been announced and will be subject to approval by the Board of Trustees at Boston University.

Boston Staff

The Boston University Ecuador Tropical Ecology Program is administered in coordination with our Boston and Quito offices. In Boston, a program manager facilitates the admissions and orientation procedures, and maintains contact with students prior to their arrival in Ecuador. In Ecuador, the program is facilitated by a resident coordinator.
