Summer Term: June 11th to August 8th, 2010
The Shanghai Intensive Chinese Language Program at Shanghai’s Fudan University offers Chinese language study at the first, second, and third-year levels. Students spend eight weeks living and studying in China's largest and most vibrant city. An undeniably modern city, Shanghai preserves the legacy of its strong colonial past. The coursework centers around 15 hours each week of language instruction, emphasizing grammar, oral comprehension, and speaking. Language courses are augmented by a week-long excursion to historic northern cities such as Beijing and Xi'an, weekend travel to nearby southern cities such as Suzhou and other "water towns," and visits to local cultural sites. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn eight Boston University credits.
