Academics

Faculty       Courses

Syllabi are for course approval and reference only. Students will receive up-to-date syllabi when their courses begin.

In the Shanghai Internship Program, the first half of the semester will be devoted to language training. During the second half of the semester, students will divide their time between a four-credit internship and an elective course.

Required Courses

Students enroll in one required course.

LC 311/312 Advanced Intensive Chinese, 8 cr.

Elective Courses

Students choose one of the following elective courses (taught in English):

CAS PO 369/IR 370 China: From Revolution to Reform, 4 cr.
CAS SO 260E Contemporary Pop Culture in China: Emergence and Trends, 4 cr.

Internship Courses

Students enroll in a four-credit internship placement. Course numbers depend on the field of specialization in which the students complete their internships. Placements are contingent upon the students’ past experiences, professional interests, and relevant academic history, as well as the availability of opportunities in any given semester; flexibility is essential.

CAS PO/IR XXX Internship in International Organization
CAS PS 495 Internship in Health/Human Services

The internship comprises academic components including:
• An extensive internship portfolio
• An academic paper on a subject related to the work done at the internship
