Because interest in our Summer Beijing Intensive Language Program is stronger than ever this year, we strongly encourage all interested students to ensure that their applications are complete before the March 1, 2008 deadline. We cannot guarantee that we can consider applications submitted after that date!

The Beijing Intensive Chinese Language Program provides Chinese language study at all levels in China's grand and bustling capital. This eight-week program provides a comprehensive introduction to China through study of its spoken and written language. The core curriculum centers on approximately 23 hours a week of language instruction, emphasizing grammar, oral comprehension, and speaking. Classes take place on the campus of the Beijing Institute of Education by trained instructors.

A Chinese-only language pledge is in effect for the duration of the program. The curriculum is augmented by a rich mixture of extracurricular activities and field trips, including a midterm trip to Qingdao, Pingyao, or another nearby city. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn eight Boston University credits.

Students live in a dormitory on the campus of the Beijing Institute of Education where they have the option to live with a Chinese roommate. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn eight Boston University credits. Download a program one-sheet.

Beijing Institute of Education
The Beijing Intensive Chinese Language Program is administered by Boston University and CET Academic Programs, an American organization that has been designing and administering academic programs in China since 1982.

The program is located at the CET Chinese Language Training Center, on the campus of the Beijing Institute of Education (BIE). BIE offers training in education theory and administration. The college is located in west central Beijing, near the zoo and within biking distance of the Forbidden City and walking distance of the subway. Beijing’s largest bus station is a five-minute walk away. All participants have the option of living with local Chinese students.
