Sheamus Sweeney holds a BA in English from Trinity College Dublin and an MA in Film and Television Studies from Dublin City University. For the past four years he has taught courses in social history and television drama and in cultural studies, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in DCU. He has been nominated on three occasions for the university’s teaching excellence award. Sheamus is a PhD candidate and the co-author, with Professor Helena Sheehan, of The Wire and the World: Narrative and Metanarrative, recently published in Jump Cut. His PhD thesis is a critical analysis of the work of television dramatist, David Simon. He is also researching the radical tradition in British television drama with a view to writing its definitive history, at some points in the future.
