Dr. Michael Thornhill gained a DPhil in modern history from St. Antony’s College, Oxford, in 1995 at which point he began teaching for Boston University British Programs. His research interests include British and American foreign policy, the politics of the Middle East, and the history of popular music. He has written numerous scholarly articles as well as contributed pieces for the Times Literary Supplement, BBC History Magazine, The Times (London), and Egypt’s Al-Ahram Weekly. His book Road to Suez: The Battle of the Canal Zone was published in 2006 and his latest research project is on King Farouk.
