Mary Condé, PhD, is a senior lecturer and honorary senior research fellow at the School of English of Queen Mary, University of London. Her degrees are from Oxford and London, and are in English Literature, the Politics of Rights and Social Anthropology. She is co-editor with Thorunn Lonsdale of Caribbean Women Writers: Fiction in English (Palgrave Macmillan), and her research interests are in African American women’s fiction, London in literature, and contemporary English fiction. Her most recent conference paper (2009) was on Rudyard Kipling, her most recent guest lecture (2009) was at Yeditepe University, Istanbul, and her most recent article (2009) was on the Canadian writer Martha Blum.
