The ACS Cluster

The ACS cluster consists of: ACS1, ACS2, ACS3, ACS4, ACS5, and ACS6 share file systems, including home directories, msgs, and mail spools. The files you see in your directory on ACS1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are the same -- NOT copies. Any changes you make to your files while logged on to ACS1, ACS2, ACS3, ACS4, ASC5, or ACS6 will actually be made to the same files. In this regard, you should see no difference no matter what machine on the ACS cluster you are logged in to.

In the same regard, you should consider the ACS cluster one system when you send or read mail. Mail sent from ACS4 will appear to have come from ACS, and mail sent to ACS will be readable from any machine. Mail should never be addressed to ACS2, ACS3, ACS4, ACS5, or ACS6. In particular, do not use a .forward file to forward mail, for example, from ACS to ACS4; it is unnecessary, and the existence of such a file will cause all your incoming mail to be returned to the sender

The ACS cluster shares most application software. The following list includes some of the more popular packages.
