FAQ

Q: WHERE CAN I FIND ARCHIE?

A: You can use the archie program to locate files on anonymous FTP sites. We don't have an archie client on the ACS cluster, but you can connect directly to an archie server by following these instructions:

1) At the ACS prompt, type: telnet archie.internic.net

2) When prompted for a login, type: archie

3) At the archie prompt type: find <string>

This will conduct a search of all known anonymous FTP sites for files containing the string you specified. For example, if you were looking for GIF graphics files, you could do a "find gif" and archie would return a list of all filenames which contain the string "gif"

Additional information on archie is provided on the server.
